Horse Boarding near the University of Florida
Hawkfields Farm is a very nice, and quiet horse boarding near the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. Ginny Cauthen is the general partner and Eunice Scott is the manager. Hawkfields is located about 20 minutes from the University of Florida campus and only minutes away from Canterbury Showplace. It is a perfect place for students to keep their horse close to campus, and also for the adult amateur looking for a quiet facility outside of the fast paced city of Gainesville.
Sitting on 26 beautiful acres of rolling pastures with plentiful large Oaks, Hawkfields is perfect for not only the competitive equestrian, but those wanting to hack out too. The main barn is a tidy, hurricane rated barn. It houses 8 stalls, a lounging area, air conditioned tack room, and full bath/shower for boarders to use. There’s even an outdoor lounging area equipped with fans for you to enjoy the scenic view of the farm! There is a variety of areas to work horses including a round pen, large grass jump field, covered regulation sized dressage arena with sand/clay footing, and trails. Horses at Hawkfields are kept inside during the day to avoid the Florida heat, and turned out into individual paddocks at night. With a full time barn manager the horses are given preferential treatment including fly spray, fly masks, etc. before turning out. Offsite trainers are welcome to give lessons on the property with proof of their own insurance.
Hawkfields is a unique facility in that it is quiet with a small number of boarders. The facility, at one time, focused on dressage, but now welcomes a variety of boarders including retirees and competitive show horses. The atmosphere at Hawkfields is relaxed, professional, and revolves around the love of the horses. If you like to relax around your horse and spend time watching sunsets, Hawkfields is the perfect place for you. It is a place where you can lose track of time while enjoying the beauty of nature.
