Large Equestrian Facility in North Florida

The Oaks Equestrian Center of Lake City

Large equestrian facility in north florida with huge barn and well kept grounds.

One of my favorite places to take my own horse is a large equestrian facility in North Florida called The Oaks Equestrian Center in Lake City. The facility is always immaculate, the rings are well prepared, and the property itself houses many options for riding across the limitless fields full of huge oaks. You can find The Oaks only four miles off of I10 just south of Lake City.

The Oaks Equestrian Center is owned by The Oaks of Lake City Home Association and managed by Tonya Green. Tonya has done an excellent job improving and maintaining the facility, as well as bringing more events to the facility and becoming more involved in the community. The Oaks provides boarding, English riding lessons, wedding venue, corporate events, trail riding, camping, weekend getaways, birthday parties (including a mini!), charity events, horse shows of all disciplines, and clinics. The facility offers indoor and outdoor rentals, so they can host a variety of events on site. The beautiful grounds would make a great backdrop for any event, especially weddings!

The large equestrian facility in North Florida was created in 2007 and was designed by Karen and David O’Connor to become a premier facility in North Florida. The design of the facility makes it a perfect place to host a variety of shows. I have personally attended hunter/jumper, combined tests, and dressage shows at the facility; they’re laid back, professional, and worth attending! The Oaks has a five-star Audubon rating. The gorgeous oaks that line the property are where the facility got it’s name from. Tonya began managing the facility in 2017 and her goal is to become more involved in the community, specifically in schools. She hopes that they will be able to provide education for children and thinks that summer camps are in their near future.

The 33 stall barn is well designed for horses. With tall ventilation, rubber padded “bricks” lining the aisles, several wash racks and grooming racks, it’s a perfect place to board your horse. There are three rings total, a 119×225 covered arena with an indoor viewing lounge, outdoor 122×255 arena, and an outdoor 150×300 western arena. There is also a covered round pen, a 15 acre cross country course, and 9 miles of trails. There are plenty of paddock turn outs, all with lush grass and shelter. Sounds like a horse-boarders dream, right? Fifteen of the stalls stay open to house horses for shows, weekend get aways, or day rentals. Even if you’re not interested in boarding, this is a wonderful place to bring your horse for some schooling time.

The Oaks Equestrian Center is a welcoming, beautiful facility that everyone in North Florida should visit. There are stalls available for boarding, if you’re interested in boarding please contact Tonya. Day use of the facility is available for $15 per horse, appointments can be made through Tonya.
